HMS Agamemnon

My first line of battle ship command - and my favourite ship! She was a 3rd rate battleship of 64 guns and launched Adams' Yard, Buckler's Hard, Hampshire, in 1781.

The Agamemnon had a most distinguished service - one of the most distinguished of any ship in the navy of my time. Under my command, she was present at the occupation of Toulon in 1793, and in both Admiral Hotham's actions with the French fleet in 1795.

She was then present in my division at the battle of Copenhagen under the command of Captain F D Fancourt (although she grounded early in the action and played little part in he battle). She took part in Sir Robert Calder's action off Cape Finisterre in July 1805 and, under the command of my good friend Captain Sir Edward Berry, was present at the Battle of Trafalgar and San Domingo (1806). She was wrecked in the mouth of the River Plate in 1809.
