HMS La Minerve

The frigate in which I flew my pendant when we captured the San Sabina, December 1796. She was a 5th rate frigate with 38 guns, formerly a French ship captured in 1795 - by my former ship HMS Lowestoffe.

La Minerve had a most unusual career since she changed hands three times!

We captured her from the French in 1795. She was stranded at Cherbourg in 1803, and retaken by the French. She then took part in the Mauritius campaign in 1810 and was recaptured by the British.
